Hillel has a wide range of opportunities for students ranging from purely social events, to events that encourage Jewish learning, and of course religious services.
Hillel offers students a chance to meet and socialize with other Jewish students from RPI and Russell Sage in a low-key and fun environment that fosters long lasting friendships. It also provides a place for students to build, explore, and share with others, their Jewish identity, through a variety of programs and events.
RPI has approximately 250 Jewish students. Our group is small enough that we can develop programming to match students' specific needs, but large enough for students to find their own group of friends within the campus Jewish community.
Here are some of the events that are routinely planned each year:
- Israeli Luncheon
- Ice Cream Social
- Barbeque in Prospect Park
- Apple Picking and Pie Baking
- Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur Services
- Sukkah Building
- Family Weekend Dinner and Services
- Murder Mystery Dinners
- Chanukah Party and Menorah Candle Lighting
- Sledding
- Tu B'Shvat Seder
- Movie Nights
- Passover Seders and Meal Plan
- Yom HaShoah Flags
- Vermonster and Elections
There are other activities too, of course, and they vary from year to year. Have an idea for something new? Email us at hillel@rpi.edu and we'll try to arrange it.
For more information about the organization, please read Hillel's constitution, which is available to download here. This new constitution has been in effect since October, 7, 2008.
